1. 21 Things for Students - Created by a grant from the REMC Association of Michigan, this site was developed by teachers and instructional technology specialists. There are many links on the menu which might be of interest: Troubleshooting, Digital Footprint, Digital Citizenship, Be Legal & Fair, Search Strategies, Digital Images, Buyer Beware, Powerful Presentations, and much, much more! Many of the links include videos and activities to be completed.
2. 21 Things for Administrators - This site is based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators. It contains basic tutorials, virtual sessions, hands-on activities, and links to resources. The "21 Things" include areas like differentiated instruction, digital images, content area tools, digital citizenship, online learning, staying organized and portable mobile administration.
3. 21 Things for the 21st Century Educator - This site follow the same format as the two mentioned above, only the focus is on teachers.
4. Compelling eLearning for K-12 Educators - This site offers free professional development you can take anytime, anywhere. Titles include "Thinking Critically with Data", "Educational Leadership in the 21st Century", and "Collaboration in the Digital Classroom". Also, check this site for additional tools and information.
5. Cool Tools for Schools - This Wikispace is maintained by Lenva Shearing and includes all sorts of Web 2.0 tools in areas like slideshows, audio, drawing, writing, music, mapping, graphing and file storage. There's also a page filled with resource links for teachers. A new section of the site under construction is the Cool Apps for Schools - take a look at the different apps Shearing is posting and see how they can be used with your students.
6. Dan King - This is a little different from most, but you can start by clicking on the iPad picture to see a site with all sorts of app resource links. Or, click on the Google icon to see links to all sorts of information and instructions on the use of Google products. Or, click on the Web 2.0 icon to see a table of different Web 2.0 tools you might want to explore.
7. Naomi Harm - Another great resource is this blog which includes entries about all sorts of technology. One entry which caught my attention was the one on January 31st about 20 innovative ways high schools are using Twitter. Another was the entry on January 28th about Infographics (see example graphic above).
8. UDL Tech Toolkit - Universal Design for Learning, or UDL, is a set a principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. This toolkit was developed to provide links to resources, the majority of them free, to help all students. On the left menu are items like Text to Speech, Graphic Organizers, Study Skills, etc.
Maybe some of these links will provide you with resources to help your students (and yourself) become a true 21st Century learner!
